Loss of Stability - For Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Survivors
When a person has lived through domestic violence and child abuse, the loss of stability can one of the most devastating continual problems in that person's life.
Stability brings a foundation of security from where all that is good in life can grow and prosper. When stability was never established a person is floating around life without a foundation; they have no roots, nothing to keep them from drifting, no place to call home. Instead of stability these homes brought destruction into precious lives. This is not what God designed nor desired for those abused, mistreated, abandoned and neglected.
Stability gives us an ability to resist disintegration, attacks of the enemy and ability to bounce back when a wrong decision is made. No one is ever going to make perfect decisions in their life, but when you have a stable foundation you do not have to fall deeper into the miry pit. You land on a certain surface, wipe the dust off and carry on. A person without stability cannot do this. They are starting inside of a pit; they need to crawl out of the hole or hopefully reach up and allow God to lift them up.
So you see it so greatly depends on what we believe and what we trust to be the foundation of our life. If you trust in government, the world, organizations or even people, you are never going to have a firm "solid, rock" stable foundation from which to grow. It is as the Bible says like building your home on sand, that when the storms come (and they will) the foundation will crumble away being dragged out be the tide of changing times.
But when you look to God to be your source of stability, Jesus is your cornerstone. You can be confident that if you continue to walk in faith and obedience to God you will building a life that can withstand the storms that come. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. What you learn about God, simply builds on to what you already know, and as you grow, your foundation goes deeper and gets stronger. Daniel 11:32 says, "the people who know their God will display strength and take action."
