Counseling When Needed (after therapy for child abuse trauma)

For those who have followed me through the years, you know I have persisted in 10 years of trauma therapy, that I took a 2 year break and then returned for a counseling "tune up" which started in September 2013.

Well, I am back taking a break again after four months of meeting my therapist twice a month. We did work on areas that were still causing problems in my life and surprisingly it only took 30 minutes or less of trauma therapy to work through them. It is amazing how different therapy is after you are integrated and have finished the bulk of the trauma therapy.

This is all new for me and so I am just sharing my journey as it happens. I want anyone who is going through therapy to have great hope knowing that it does not last forever... the day will come when trauma therapy is no longer needed.

I am entering a "counseling when needed" time of life. And it feels very good!

I read a post back from 2011 when I was a bit envious of people who were able to explore creative outlets of art and craft. And now this year, I am preparing myself to begin this exploration that was not to be just a few years ago. It is exciting to know that if we are diligent with the tasks at hand that the day will come in due time to explore the mediums of creativity or any other drive/thrill that our hearts' desire.

Learning to do things in the proper season is so important. We can not rush ahead, nor should we ignore and let things pass that we could be doing. Listening to God and obeying His lead on timing is so important.

Just yesterday, I purchased a book on exploring mixed media layer by layer called Acrylic Solutions. I am reading through and learning techniques so that I will know what supplies I will need to purchase in the coming months. I am, also, needing to clean out the "spare" room that will be our library, writer's room and creativity room that I will share with my precious daughter who is 16.

So I still have work to do to get ready but I do see a new journey opening up soon and even the cleaning is a journey... filtering through the old, trashing what is no longer needed so that we can begin with the new.  It is all a great feeling.

Enjoy this day!

Love, Lindy
